about myself

How I got into 3D

When I was around 13 years old, I went through a phase where I watched a lot of YouTube videos – so many, in fact, that I eventually felt the urge to step in front of the camera myself and start creating content. I came up with the idea to make sketches – short comedy videos – and upload them to YouTube. At some point, I thought: my channel needs an intro, something that represents me before the video even starts.

So I started searching and, unsurprisingly, ended up on YouTube again – this time looking for tutorials on how to create an intro. It didn’t take long until I stumbled upon my first Blender tutorial. It showed how to use a template to create a 3D intro synced to dubstep music and packed with effects. That moment sparked something in me – it was the beginning of everything.

I dove headfirst into the world of Blender, spending sleepless nights exploring countless tutorials on text animation, 3D modeling, and motion design.

YouTube intros and text animations

After several weeks, I eventually came across tutorials for Cinema 4D. Suddenly, I realized that it was possible to create intros that looked even more polished and visually appealing using Cinema 4D. So I got my hands on the software and started watching tutorials. For me, it felt easier to use – more intuitive and user-friendly than Blender. That’s why I decided to stick with Cinema 4D and gradually left Blender behind.

By that time, I had already gained a lot more experience in text animation and intro design. And I didn’t just like creating intros – I loved it. In my free time, I created countless intros for a wide range of YouTubers, mostly in the Let’s Play scene. Many of these intros can still be found on my old YouTube channel, which is no longer active today.

Between 2014 and 2019, I created and uploaded several hundred intros to YouTube – and in the process, I had discovered a new passion. I continued diving deeper into Cinema 4D, handled post-production in After Effects, and became a proud Adobe Creative Cloud user. I taught myself Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects – my go-to tools during that time.

Around 2018 or 2019, however, my enthusiasm for these intros began to fade. Eventually, in 2019, I created my final one.

After school

In 2019, I graduated from school with my Abitur in hand – and the world was wide open to me. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do yet, but in the end, I decided to pursue something both technical and creative. Just like before, I used my free time to keep honing my skills and expanding both my technical knowledge and creative perspective.

I left intros behind and began exploring the world of motion design. Not just in Cinema 4D, but also in After Effects – often combining both tools to experiment and discover new approaches. I explored a wide range of disciplines, starting by looking for inspiration from various artists like Peter TarkaMishko, and Josh Pierce. Their work opened my eyes to a whole new way of seeing design.

I learned a great deal and started to view the creative world from a completely new angle. At some point, it became clear that it was time to take the next step and apply to university. Since I was so deeply fascinated by 3D in general, animation, and filmmaking, I ended up in Deggendorf.

University

At the end of 2020, I began my Media Technology studies at Technische Hochschule Deggendorf . During this time, I explored the inner workings of media devices, diving into both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of modern media technology.

In the early semesters, my focus was on engineering fundamentals such as mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, and audio technology. Alongside the technical subjects, creative projects encouraged me to develop my artistic skills and experiment with different forms of media.

As the semesters progressed, my studies became increasingly hands-on. A wide range of disciplines shaped my time in Deggendorf — including graphic and motion design, cinematography and composition, 3D modeling and animation, camera work and film projects, audio engineering, and interactive media.

In March 2024, I completed my Bachelor’s degree by submitting my Bachelor thesis and was awarded the title Bachelor of Engineering.

After completing my bachelor’s degree in March 2024, one thing was clear to me: I wanted to pursue a master’s program—specifically in the field of visual effects. Film had always been a passion of mine, and I had long been fascinated by the technical side and all the behind-the-scenes magic. That passion, once sparked in my childhood, had now been reignited.

It was time to take a new path – different from the one I had followed so far. I applied to several film schools and ultimately landed at the Filmakademie Wien, where I began my master’s degree in Digital Art Compositing in October 2024.

The program is specialized in compositing, filmmaking, 3D animation, modeling, VFX supervision, and other visual effects disciplines.
